Just curious...does anyone know if a 245-40-18 tire will fit in the spare well in the A6 trunk?

Just curious...does anyone know if a 245-40-18 tire will fit in the spare well in the A6 trunk?

I am replacing my summer setup, and was considering the same size I ran before (255-35-18), but also considering 245-40-18 as an alternative.

Tire calculator says my stock tire size is 25.0" diameter. I know a 235 45 17 tire fits in the trunk (25.3" diameter), but the 245-40-18 tire is 25.7" diameter.

My 235/40-18 does...

Mounted on an 18x8 wheel. Its a tight fit, though.

Same here. I don't think a 245 would fit.

step1: remove all dead hookers, step2:insert wheel in to spare well

step3: re-insert as many dead hookers that will fit around spare 245 wheel =)

It does fit kinda but you have to let some air out.

Buy a plug in lighter air pump.

245/40's fill in the wheel well nicely and if you swap to stock front sways it will ride very comfortably over bumps.

I thought about mentioning that, but I didn't think the sidewalls would be flexible enough.

A 0.4" diameter difference on a spare tire used sparingly will be fine...

...if the bigger tire's tread is worn down and the spare tire's tread is not, their diameters are going to really be the same in that situation anyway.
