Explain what "replaced" means. What exactly was done and how was it done?

Default Make sure the pads are in correctly, then bed 'em in.

Although I probably would have replaced the rotors.

Default <Edited>Bleeding is not difficult, but it is CRITICAL. After a brake pad change it is common

for the pedal to 'bottom out' when you first reapply the brakes, as you re-position the pads, etc. But then after that first pedal push your brakes should feel normal - unless you have air in your system now, in which case you need to get the air out. Do a search and you'll undoubtedly find many articles on how to bleed; essentially, you pressurize the sytem and open the bleed valve (while the system is pressurized)to release the air that has worked its way into the system.

As you have discovered, if you don't get the air out of the system the pedal will feel spongy or non-responsive. Obviously you can't drive the car like this so if you aren't comfortable bleeding the brakes find someone who can help you out.
