Who has a DICE iPod adapter?

I'm having one installed in my car next week.

the car audio shop I'm working with is telling me I can only control/navigate through the head unit and the iPod controls will be locked.

I called DICE and spoke to a rep who told me the opposite. I can scroll through artists/albums, etc on the iPod and only skip back and forth through tracks with the head unit.

I STFA and found a mix of both answers.

Can someone please provide me a straight answer?

This could be a deal-breaker for me. I currently have a PhatBox and one main reason for switching to the iPod is to get away from the PITA head unit controls.

My car is a 2000 2.7T 6spd w/ factory nav (if that makes a difference).

I put one in about 6 months ago

and I control mine directly on the iPod. it is an option in the setup and the icelink manual tells you how to switch back and forth between radio vs iPod display control.... i believe you can do either however using the car (not the iPod) makes the info that comes up on the iPod so small it is difficult to read....i control my volume and song navigation (back and fwd only) through my steering wheel controls. skip songs/change artists through the iPod controls. also easier to read when the iPod is the master. for what it's worth my steering wheel fwd/bck doesn't seem to advance the song selection anymore..but who cares...just reach out and touch the iPod anyway....

i'm confused by the info on the iPod screen becoming smaller. doesnt the iPod just dispaly as normal? my friend has a different model adapter in his Passat and the screen looks normal when you control it.

so you're steering wheel controls worked at first and then stopped working?

I have my heart set on being able to scroll artists/albums on the iPod and skip tracks with the head unit/steering wheel.

you have control over the IPOD via the head/steering wheel buttons...

but you have to look at the ipod to see what its doing. The head won't display any Ipod info other than track #.

that's fine...

I didn't expect it to display the track info on the head unit but I do want to be able to scroll artists/albums on the ipod itself too.

The way I run mine is exactly how you want to do yours. I use the steering

wheel to adjust volume and advance from one song to the next....and then if I want to switch albums or skip to a different playlist I use the controls on the iPod itself.
