Default issues with cv joint replacement...long...responses please...

i bought my car from a guy in san diego. all the modifications that are on my car where on there when i bought it. recently my cv boot opened up on the way home from a trip and obviously my outer joint is cooked. so i called the guy i bought it from and asked him if her ever replaced the outer boot, and he did. so i thought maybe i hit a snowbank and it ripped open (on the trip there was a crazy snow storm).
so i order from blauparts a outer cv joint. i also have to raise my car a little and new rotors and pads. so the last thing im about to do in the process is install the new cv joint. i go to put it on and the inside diameter is too big! so right away i figure that blauparts shipped me the wrong part.
oh yes. my parts from blauparts took like 16 days to get here as i am in canada, and the cost was 90$ opposed to 340 at the steeeeeelership here.
so i go to the dealership to get the 'right' part cause i was fed up. i took the inside measurement of the old cv joint and it was about 26mm. the one from blauparts was 30mm. the one from the dealer.......30mm. what the heck? i know the guy in parts from highschool and he looked at all the other cv joints he has in stock, nothing the same size. he did say that a s4 had a different part number, it didnt show the size though, and he didnt have one in stock.
so i was boggled. i called the guy i bought the car from and he told me the place he got the work done and i called them....number no longer in service...website=advertising events from 2006. so it seems that they put some shaft on there that was aftermarket or something...who knows.
i have the bentley manual and it mentions in there something of two different shafts, one they measure of '100mm' and '108mm'. the s6 shaft from the dealership is 108mm. but we couldnt find something of 100mm. what that measurement is of, i dont know.
the place where this guy got his work done was creative autoworks in san diego. he said after he got it back he found out that place was a little shady.
also i have read that the inner boots rarely go on these cars and the boot is fairly worn. more than the other side.
im just beside myself on this. i have ordered a whole new shaft from raxles.com and hopefully this works. who knows that is behind that inner shaft that these guys a f*cked with.

has anyone ever heard of this before, or know of a smaller outter joint that i could get instead of a whole new shaft?

Default first off.. just becuas the boot is shot does not mean the joint is shot.

but in your case, just replace them all and have peace of mind..

If that's the case then defintely go the Raxles route. Decent quality, fair prices, peace of mind.
