Tires again!
The Potenza's have 20K miles and are about worn out. This has been the worst set of tires I have used. I need a tire that will last 60K miles or better. Tires are costing too much. Any suggestions?

My feeling has always been tires (and brakes) are the most important items for your car..
...if you've gotten to 116,000 "trouble free miles", then you are obviously doing something right.
Don't skimp out now. Some of the better "performing" tires, do NOT give you that long life, but make up for it in areas that are more important.
In my opinion, the two top tires I have used are:
-<b>Michelin Pilot Sport A/S</b> (pretty much the priciest out there)
and
-<b>Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S</b> (just as good as the Michelin's, but at a more reasonable price).

Long life = poor grip. Why be cheap on a costly, high performance car?
That said, there are a fair number of good tires with treadwear ratings between 300-400 which should do you better. Some cost a bunch, though, like the Michelins.

My personal favorite are Pirelli PZeroNero M&S...
...had a set of those on my 18" OEM RS6 wheels for two years (excluding winter months) and they still had over 8/32" tread when I sold them last fall. The same model tires that were on my previous car have run 4 years, for probably about 40k miles (from the current owner's assessment) and are still above the wear bars.

funny how this is bought up again, realized with this snow i have crappy tires... so what size...
are you guys running again because when i got these wheels they came with 225/40r/18 but i see as a standard for the 18s being 235 not 225..... the wheels are et45 and 8 inches wide i beleive.... now show i stick with the 225 or go with the flow and get the 235 instead?

60K miles from a set of tires?? I don't think you'll find many, if any, that'll give you that. But
I can say that like BostonDriver I'm a fan of Pirelli PZeroNero M&S tires, they are a good, reasonably long lasting set of tires.

Hah...hipo cars=low tire mileage. Even Lexus will tell you..
we looked at a GS450H...lovely car/rocket, itty bitty trunk (half filled by battery), wife loved it, 12-18K tire mileage noted BY LEXUS!!! Same with M6 (worse than M5!); funny thing is I got almost 40K miles on the OEM Contis on my E46 M3 convertible...uniform wear, replaced all four tires with Contis.
