Transmission

I was a longtime B5 S4 owner, my brother inlaw recently came across an '00' A6 at an auction for dirt cheap. It needs transmission work, He asked me to try and figure out what a new transmission would run him. Im not to sure he is in to rebuilding it, he is the type of guy that would rather just replace it. Its a tip. 2.7 T. Thanks

factory rebuilt tranny would proabbly run over $4k parts alone...

...and then the labor to install.

I'll be selling my S6 transmission as well as my S6 motor in the near future.

The transmission is in good condition and I've seen them sold for around $2k. Email me if there's an interest.

Is the S6 transmission compatible with the 2.7t engine?

Nope. 4.2s and S6s use the HP24 trans, which is larger than the HP19 that the

2.7's use. That's why V8 C5's have a larger trans tunnel/different firewall. It would probably bolt up to a 2.7, but it wouldn't fit in the car.

yeah....local rebuild on a friends allroad was close to 4K - swap in a 6 speed

there an authorized ZF transmission shops a reman 5hp24 ran about $3100
