Default Front passenger door won't open/ ECU Removal Nightmare

I just purchased a tip chip from INMotion for my 04 A6 2.7t, so today I head to my car to start the removal of the ECU. My car is currently parked outside for winter (in a car cover). As I pulled the car cover up to open the passenger door it was slightly frozen but easily opened...... Almost finished the removal and happy I get up to take a quick break (it is -25 out). I shut the door... but the door wouldn't click in like if is was frozen open. So I play with the mechanism in the middle of the door with my finger (up and down) and shut it again still nothing. So I leaned on the door and then locked it with my remote. It works the door closed.... but now it won't open! I see and hear the lock trying.... any ideas? I have to get this ECU out to INMotion and not having access of this door has totally put this project on hold!!! Freaking out!!!

the TCU then?
http://inmotionusa.com/instructions/tcu_removal.htm

the door doesn't have to be open but it is a hell of a lot easier (especially since my carpet is so hard to lift up)..
check the link you'll see

Default It can be done..I've done it, BUT....

since you are working outside...

Warm up the car, and get some heat going inside. My main concern is for the plastic panels, which will be brittle with the cold air.

Move the drivers seat all the way back and recline it. It's not a very comfortable position to be working in, but take your time and you will succeed.

Yeah that was plan B.... my plastics are already removed (not completely but enough to grab the black box). I'll check tomorrow ... let it warm up real good try to get my door open and if that fails I'm a work from the driver's side grab that box from under the carpet and send that out right away to be tuned and deal with the door another day!! forcasting -30 degrees easy with the windchill tomorrow....brrrrrrr
