Default ABS pump coming on

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, but maybe someone will have had this problem in the past...When coming to a stop after downshifting to first, my ABS pump comes on when I step on the brake. I recently had my front axles changed and my mechanic thinks they may be part of the problem. Something about the "teeth" not catching right. I assume there is some sort of rotating teeth that feed a magnetic impulse for the ABS system. Don't have my manual in front of me and am writing from overseas where I work, but does this ring a bell with anyone. Thanks, Matt

Default Sensor not seated or "teeth" on new outer CV's dirty. STFA, and...

...bring the car back to whoever installed the new shafts. They should fix the problem for free.

abs kicks in right before you come to complete stop? clean the sensors & reinstall, done.

Thanks, I'll try both of those things and let you know. Could the new axles be somehow different and cause this, and if there were a difference in clearance, I assume the sensors are adjustable, with like a shim?

Default I seriously doubt the axels are different or the ABS would not function at all.

More likely that the tech who installed the axels bumped the sensor(s) out of adjustment. There is no shim, the sensors just slide into a bore in the knuckle. Usually you can just push them in until they contact the joint.

If the "teeth" on the joint are dirty, they can usually be cleaned by removing the sensor and blasting the teeth with some brake clean - don't go crazy or it will get into the wheel bearing and damage it.

I doubt that you have a big problem. This is just sloppy work IMHO.

cool. Normally I would have done this job myself, but time is short lately, thanks again for the input.
