Default Tips for changing out Pre-cat O2's? I went in there today to look at what I have to do.

First question is from above or below? Seems like above for pass. and below for driverside.

Do I need to take the heat shield out on pass/driverside?

Best tools?

Also is it best to warm the car then take them out?

I spayed the O2's w/ PB blaster and I put an open end wrench on the pass. side O2 to see how much of a pain its going to be. Seems like the heat shield or turbo bolt might get in the way.

I did look for a write-up but couldn't find one.

Default Go in from above for both, parallel to the firewall with lots of extensions; might......

Penetrating oil is basically useless in this situation. Just warm the car up a bit.

It seems to be a bit of an angel. Did you use an elbow joint on the extensions?

Its a PITA! If you don't have a lift, and a socked falls off....you'll never find it

Default Agree with Chaddy. Go in from top.

For driver's side: After you've removed the coolant reservoir and accodian hose, remove heatshield bolts (IIRC 5mm hex)and shift heatshield to the right. This will give you "enough" room to work. You'll see the EGT is right above the B2S1. You'll need a 7/8 socket. Use elbow joints, extensions, etc....you'll get to it. Expect to have a few scratches on your hands.

No, but some are wobble extensions - I recall having just enough slop in the extensions to do it.
