transmission problem
New here. I have a 2002 A6 3.0. The car has appr.100,000 miles and it. After I brought it I started to noticed that when the car is warmed up a bit and you come to a stop and tried to go the car would pick up in rpm's and then it would jolt to get it going again. Almost like it has a stall converter in it. The car drives fine and shifts good after you get it going. Took it to a dealer and they changed the fluid but the car still does it, now they are saying it is the transmission and a new one is 7,000 from them. I can get one out of a wrecking yard for alot less. But I'm wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this problem.

My wife's works fine, (B7), but she isn't piling on huge miles either. If I'm not mistaken,
they made some changes with the later ones much as they did with the HP24 in my 4.2. I notice also you did an oil change, which also caused my heart to skip a few beats until the dealer was lucky enough to be able to fix it.What I was told, is that the old fluid actually has the effect of higher visciosity due to the junk in it, and throwing fresh fluid in a higher mileage car cornfuses the poor thing. I feel your pain, good luck with it. A ZF referred shop will charge considerably less btw.
