2002 3.0L Quattro A6 fog bulb light replacement

Just swapped mine out, my owners manual says "to difficult to get to bulbs, go to the dealer" . Well, I went in here and STFA, and found the H3 bulb callout and great instructions! But, for model/year of my C5 A6 however it's an H7, and it's just 3 #2 phillips screws on the front, unplug (like in instructions) and then pop the 3 clips on the side of the bulb case. Unplug the back from the H7 bulb, and then release spring clips holding H7 bulb in. Note how the H7 is in the bracket, remove it, swap in the new one, and reverse the procedure, total time to swap, 15 minutes, and that's with having to go hunt in my Audi parts bin for an H7 bulb. I even cleaned off my lens while I had it all open. Works great now!

Yup, page 297.... bulb replacement ---... go to your dealer, it's to hard to get to the bulbs

especially the headlights in the engine compartment.

I couldn't believe it when I read it.

Of course!!..Audi corporate doesn't expect the "average" buyer of an A6..

..to get down on their hands and knees and start taking apart the fog light assembly to change the bulb.

I had expected to find H7s for my 2002 A6 4.2 fogs, but they were H3s...

...glad you figured it out. It is so easy!

yes, that's what I'd read everywhere, so without looking, I grabbed

an H3 at the local auto parts shop...

taking it back today. never even got it open. Extremely easy to do this task!

When I first got my car, I got a printout from the dealers service ETKA manual..

...regarding the fog lights.

I ordered some aftermarket PIAA bulbs based upon that, and then found out the hard way, they were H3's.

Gotta love mid-model year changes.
