Remote Range
Does anyone know how to increase the remote range for the A8's? Anyne know where the antenna in the car is? Mine works from about 5 feet away. Should I just buy a new remote battery and not worry about the antenna? Thanks.

Not knowing what model year you have. There was a technical update ( recall if you will ) performed on mine ( while in for normal MA )a few years back whereby they changed/fix/or replaced the internal antenna.

There is a recode available for the D2 A8 that increases the range of the remote.
My remote works from around 50 feet away. The antenna for the remote is in the driver's side rear quarter panel by the CD changer. I don't have the code change information right now, but I know that it exists.

There is a TSB for this
It's on the Bently, it takes the receiver antenna and moves it from inside the trunk to inside the rear bumper cover.

Dealer replaced batteries both remotes for my 2001 TWICE and operation
was still intermittent at best! They finally agreed to replace both remotes. So far, so good. Car also would occassionally lock by itself, when left unlocked in my garage overnight. I actually saw it happen once!! Dealer "found no fault codes" and "couldn't duplicate problem" This, did nothing. Said they didn't know what to troubleshoot!! I suggested the receiver might be a place to start instead of the fuel pump. But they claimed Audi won't pay to troubleshoot. Next time I take the car in, maybe they can post someone to watch it overnight. Has anyone had this "self-locking" occur?? How was it fixed?? Thanks
