Default A-8 2004 Sunroof issues

I've had an Audi since 1985. 4000Q A-4 A-8 and now A-8L.
Never a problem till this new one. Took delivery July 30, so far I've had a dead battery, new transmission, and now my sunroof is haunted.
Driving around with it open is no problem. Randomly, when closing, it will get 95% closed and then reopen to its original position. Dealer has had it twice without any luck. Any ideas before I get the E 500 4matic? Thanks

I left out that when the dealer was testing the new tranny, my windshield took a stone that required all new glass.

Blade, the 4th time in for the sunroof WITH NO LUCK may be your salvation if you want out. I cancelled a Benz order in favor of the A8L because the Benz mechanic actually said that I was taking a chance with the 350-500 series! At this point Im not sure what to say. There are many of us who are motoring around in 04`s that are pretty darn happy with their machines but there are some that have caught the "first year bug"! Audi has too much riding on the success of this model to leave any of its owners in a lurch. The question is how much can you put up with and for how long. Please keep us posted.

Sunroof may think there is a neck, hand or finger stuck in the gap whilst closing so it opens to prevent choking, bruising, breaking. Is the track free of anything that would cause it to jam? What happened to the trans? Glass isn't the car's fault.

When I'm closing the roof, I don't activate A/C. Sometimes the climate control sustem is on, other times it has benn off. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Track has been cleaned by Audi dealer twice. I do notice that the speed of the roof closing seems to slow as it approaches fully closed. This does not happen every time but when it does, the roof reopens. I haven't tried placing an impediment to the roof closing to see how it responds. That's something to do today.
Trans was shifting roughly from the start. About three weeks in, it wouldn't go into reverse when initially shifted, but would after a delay with a CLUNK and the auto would lurch backwards.
Glass was dealers fault. Service didn't put the guard on the lower portion of the windshield on for their test drive with the new tranny. It was removed to take out and replace tranny. They thought it would save time in case they had more work to do in the engine compartment.

Default Possible poor or intermittent electrical ground to the sunroof motor?

The result would be higher current draw tripping the safety "anti-pinch" reopening. This could also explain why the A/C can cause reopening. A momentary voltage drop as the A/C clutch engages would also cause the sunroof motor to draw a high current.

One of these days I need to check my D2's sunroof operation ... I haven't opened it in more than two years.

Brought the car in for the third time for the sunroof. Audi has already offered 3 weeks of car payments to me for the time out of service to date.
warrentee extended to 80,000mi. But if this isn't fixed I'm pushing for replacement vehicle. Keep you posted.
