Just purchased VAG-COM
I tried to have my lead mech change the car into 00011 sport mode. But the car won't take the code. The closest we could get it was 00012 -- which is where it's at now w/ no discernable difference.
I suspect, I'll just wait to get the tool and do it myself, but I would expect I'd have the same problem.
Ideas?

Hmmm.
I've done my car and two others, all 99s and before, and never had a bit of a problem. Once you know what you're doing, it's a five minute operation, and most of that is waiting for the laptop to boot up.

I just got my VAG-COM this week as well and the first thing I did was change the program to 00011 on my '98 with no problems. Even though this was my first time using the software, it only took me 5 minutes.

You probably just didn't get to the right register and press the right button to save the changes. I'm sure you'll get it next time....and you'll be reporting back that you love the coding!
