A8 tires

I am new to this forum and in reading some of the posts I have noticed that a number of A8 owners have gone to a different tire than the OEM goodyears. I have heard that the goodyears are not the ideal tire for the A8 and I am looking for input for an upgrade. I own a 2000 A8 4.2 quatro that is street driven only.
Any help out there?
Also I have a 99 A8 hood and grill available in very good shape for $500.00 if anyone is interested or knows someone who is, call kevin @218-692-5835

Where do you live?

Do you have real winters and need to drive in snow, or can you get by with summer only tires?

And yes, almost anything will be an improvement over the OEM GY's.

cruise control issue

On a different note, I am taking my 00 A8 in to have the cruise control looked at on Mon. It only works occasionally and the resume does not work at all. I have heard this is a common problem on the A8, is that true? If so, can the dealer fix it?

Thank you. I bought the car used with 28,000 miles. The color is Ebony pearl (Dark charcoal/grey metalic?) with beige leather. As far as options go, I really do not know what came standard and what is optional, it has heated seats, GPS, navigation, sunroof, etc.?? As yet I have not done any upgrades as I am not familier enough with the car or what upgrades are even available for it. I have had a few niggling little problems such as the cruise control working when it feels like it and the resume feature failing to cooporate at all. It's going into the Audi dealer in Fargo (Valley Imports) on Mon. to try and sort out the cruise and a check engine light?
Over-all I think it is a great car, an understated yet elegant design with adequate power and superb road handling. I do not plan on driving the car beyond it's limits or at a closed circuit but I have spent a number of years on and off, racing formula cars in the SCCA so I still like to push the car, which is why I asked the question about the tires. The OEM goodyears do not seem to suit the car at all.
