A8 parking brake adjust

Still sorting out the A8...parking brake cable has way too much slack and a quicky look under the car seems to suggest the adjust (if there is one) near the handle is buried in the bowels of the tunnel, under exhaust, et. al. Is this the case or is there room to weasel in and tighten things up ?

Any suggestions.....

... so, what was the answer? I have the same issue with my 99 A8, when I yank on the e-brake handle it almost scrapes the headliner.
