Wow...that's a bargain! Mine wants $1,500. They say it's a 10 hour job.....like the old time studies in the factories I used to work in as a kid. I once grinded shuttle cars used for hauling coal after the major pieces were welded together. The old time study was 22 hours....I was 20 y.o., just a fresh kid working my way through college, and I did it in 10! Needless to say everyone in the place hated me after that, but I was just doing what I was told to do
That brings up an interesting idea....I was going to advertise in the help wanted section of my local newpaper for a mechanic that knows audi cars because I am not going to pay my dealers price. At worst I lose $30 for running the ad; at best I get my timing belt and water pump changed for maybe $1,000?

Best case, I could do it in 7 hours
And that would be doing it right with the oil cooler repair too. I would guess that it would be very hard to do it in less time correctly.
That's also with cleaning everything and not just putting it back together without cleaning.
