Shifting between 2nd and 3d gear

I have a 98 A8 with 29000 miles on it. I have been so impressed by the smoothnes of the transsmision ever since I got it. Recently I started to notice a very very slight jerky push when the car shifts between 2 and 3 gear only. Again it is super slight almost unnoticeble but it is there? Any ideas

Consider having the fluid and filter changed

Thanks Paul. It looks a bit complicated. I talked to the dealer and they said that it costs $99 to have the ATF and filter changed. I guess in this case it is not worth it to do it myself. Is this going to fix the problem?

$99 to change fluid and filter... i would worry about that

I think what they meant is to just drain the ATF and replace it. Would that be OK?

NO way the dealer can do this job correctly for $99- the fluid alone costs more than that!!

7+ liters of Audi Tranny fluid @ $15/liter
New filter (strainer)/O-ring/Gasket approx. $50
Labor to completely remove the tranny pan and do the job right- 2-3 Hours.

Full cost for a dealer to do this CORRECTLY is around $350. I say correctly because it has been the experience on this board that very few dealers know how to do this change correctly. If you take it in, be sure to print out the procedure from Audipages and take it to the service writer/technician!!
