Default BMW Customer Support

My son, who has not yet been converted, recently bought a 2000 740I with about 25000 miles. Within 500 miles the drivers window regulator failed and the left rear was making ominous noises. Shopping around at various dealers and independents, he determined he was facing a $500 bill just for the drivers window. He then posted his plight on a BMW forum asking for advice like we do here on the A8 forum. One of the respondents was BMW. They asked him what dealer was convenient and to take the car there. This morning he did that. The dealer just called him and told him the car is ready. Two new window regulators provided and installed courtesy of BMW. Now that's customer support. Is Audi listening in?

I think its terrific no matter what manufacturer it is that responds to their customers like this. I have seen Audi do the same with some of the 04 models, whether it be mechanical failures or the misfortunes of a driver that suffered a crash. Lets hope this continues so that ALL drivers will feel as though they have "someone looking over their shoulders".

I have been buying BMW's for 11 years, my latest and greatest is a $78,000 piece of crap, which has been in the shop more than thirty days in a twelve month period, and they deny that there is anything wrong with the car. It took a Lemon Law claim for them to take notice. So please don't tell me about BMW Customer Service. I've had my fill with their lack of concern and gamesmanship. As far as I'm concerned, BMW = Buy More Warranty!

I like this. I wonder what we can make up for AUDI.
In fact I had filed a complaint with Len Hunt- Audi Vice President for my horrible experinces with Bell Audi in New Jersey. He actually returned my phone call. I wonder how they will handle my situation. I will keep you posted.
