Default Never Understood......

Why some ex-Audi owners still insist on posting on this forum to tell us how horrid these cars are, and how unreliable they are, and how their experience has scarred them for life, hence they wish to relive their horror with us, over and over again.

Do these individuals think we are unaware of the problems, and glitches, and failures. Yes surely we have all griped at one time or another, I still have many, yet this is an AUDI ENTHUSIASTS website. They did not call it the "Former Audi Owners Still Pissed OFF even after a full refund now driving X Brand yet would still like to argue and convince everyone else not to purchase an Audi, Website".

This is a place where we can share ideas, problems, solutions and yes experiences of owning an A8, or any other Audi model for that matter (and occassionally beating up on other brands and makes). There is nothing wrong with citing your experience, yet months after the fact, especially when you should have moved on, is a bit silly. Perhaps you can write up on BMW, LEXUS or even MB Enthusiast sites and tell them how horrid a car you once owned called an Audi. And in exchange we promise not to come on your "Enthusiast" site and prove you wrong.

Yes I wish the A8 was a perfect, efficient, reliable beast, yet I am content with it being perfectly suited for my needs, and the sheer driving experience is sufficient enough, where no other brand will do.

I feel you on this. I mean if someone wanted to buy an A8, I think we can all be honest and tell him what he is getting into. The finest car in the world in my opinion, and yes it has some problems like anything else. Now as for these "ex-Audi" owners, hopefully with their new purchase, they are also getting a life.

Default I agree completely. RE: Gripes etc., his forum should be used to solicit advice

and help in resolving problems with the dealer and AofA. Also, letting off a little steam is OK, but constant trashing of Audi is annoying and unnecessary. I doubt there was ever a sophisticated performance car introduced to the market without any bugs that needed to be worked out.

I agree with you completely. The site should be an enthusiasts exchange of information and sometimes if a problem comes up the forum will probably either solve it for you or have some good suggestions. I've learned much more from the forum than from my dealer about the D3. Beating a dead horse is counter productive.

Default I disagree, folks....

The minute you start trying to regulate the content on a forum (as long as it is on the primary topic), it's done as far as I'm concerned. Guys like Buybeach help us to see the extreme negative experience with the A8 which does two things: 1) helps us to keep our eyes open for similar problems with our own cars, and 2) makes us appreciate our own nearly-trouble-free cars even more.

Further, we all know that AoA surfs this forum, and if everything discussed here was candy and roses, problems might not get fixed as quickly and service might not improve in ways we'd like to see. AoA isn't dumb...they know that the crowd on this forum is the 'leading edge' and passionate fringe of their owner base. It's important that they hear both the good and the bad.

Let's welcome all opinions as long as they are presented respectfully and not delivered with personal animus toward other members.

Default I don't think AoA looks at this forum and uses it in a positive direction

If so, do you think more dealers would know how to change the transmission fluid on AoA's cars? I would think so, but they don't.

Additionally, they don't even know enough to educate the dealers on problems such as transmissions.

How about the salesman that told Blade04 that his sunroof would work after preping the car? He sure didn't know what he was talking about, probably doesn't even know what an OBD-II port is...but he really doesn't have to, he just has to sell cars to pay his rent and keep his dealer afloat.

Instead, the dealer uses "bunny ears" to easter egg hunt your problems down and charge it back to AoA under warranty or Audi assured programs, and if it isn't them they are charging it to, it's the customer they are charging it to. And that would be $120/HR at one dealer in the Chicago area. No thank you for that. If I was AoA, I would try to bring these things more in line with reality, they must spend sooo much money on warranty work that is not necessary because the problem was not troubleshot properly.

I doubt AoA even looks at this site, they might have somebody to do that for them, but just think how hard it would be to provide feedback to an orginization as large as AoA.

As far as people complaining about their cars, sometimes it can be too much, but that's why it's a forum....things will always change. I'm sure a lot of people get tired of hearing what I have to say when I post a million times a day...it's just human nature.

Why is constant trashing of Audi by a few annoying and unneccesary. IMHO, diversity is the key here. My definition of just about anything may be different than your definition of the same thing. Sometimes by putting up a porous wall as opposed to a block wall you are allowing someone to relieve some of whatever pressure built up thusly allowing them to see to the other side. Ive always believed that there are nice ways of getting a point across that otherwise might be hurtful and vindictive. Some on this board treat the Audi brand name as god and act rather defensively whenever the car is referred to in a bad way. The Audi is a CAR albeit a fine car IMHO but we are not talking world hunger here, although that might not hurt! Its a car manufactured by humans which is bound to have issues from time to time and we can talk about those issues. We should be able to include in these discussions those who have in the past driven these cars and have moved on. Personally, I dont know where you move on to from here but it shouldnt matter. They just might come back!

Default What if Audi......

lurked here and immediately stepped up and solved any A8L issue posted?
Wouldn't that make for some very happy new customers writing glowing reviews of their own and be a rather inexpensive way generate incredible "word of mouth" amongst the luxo car buyer set?
Alas; they don't though cause if they did surely the first thing they'd do is give Mr Audipages a downtown condo and a babe to go with it (Okay he's got the babe already, but who wouldn't like a DT condo?)
Remember too that if Audi achieves too much cult status, my not so secret S8 affordability plan could fail....which reminds me-
Note to the middle aged dentist out there currently nursing my '03, black n camel: Please continue to gently drive it to and from work and the club. Show your friends the sporty, cool S8 emblem, and kindly keep it like new for me. Thanks
