Default Given that I now have a 2000 A8....

...I'm considering getting a different toy for my "summer" car. I have a '77 911S coupe now and would unload it to get either an early 1980's 930 coupe or a 2001-2002 TT quattro roadster.

What do you all think? The modern convenience of a newer, low mileage, drop top, Quattro, TT; or a insane HP classic 930?

Get the 9-30 if its only between those two. A nice 930 will cost $30K though, get a 72s! or 95 993

What exactly is a 930? A turbo? Can't remember.

If you go with the Porsche, you can track it, if you go with the TT converible, usually you can't track it because of the broomstick rule. You need a hard top to track it.

Default The 930 (US designation) is a 911 turbo....

....if I get a track car, I'll get a race car.

The idea of tracking a street car sounds fun but relatively expensive and still a compromise. I've looked into getting back into road racing six to 8 times a year maybe on a regional level with the SCCA. Problem is time crunch. Now that I have the $$ to afford racing (sort-of) I can't find the time. The Spec-Miata class looks interesting and relatively low maintainence.
