Default Bangle denied the early faclift in his recent AutoWeek interview

The guy is very arrogant and thinks that he's ahead of everybody and the world just hasn't caught up to appreciate his fabulous designs.

I hope for BMW's sake that he gets the boot soon.

Default it's a bold and radical design for BMW...

however, there's no other explanation other than 'arrogance' to explain the bungled mess bangle made.

Looks like bangle wanted a more natural organic design to the new bimmers.

well, the 7 looks like a toad with another toad mounted on top of it attempting to have sex. he's been watching too much of the discovery channel.

the Z4 looks like a guppy taken out of its element. Land Shark? The original landshark was the Porsche 928. I could see that in the 928 but not the Z4.

the new 5 looks like the accounting/marketing/corporate boys got a hold of it b/c it has bangle written on it but it somehow didn't get as ugly. only BIG problem is that it looks like a toyota camry with a roundel.

The only thing going for BMW is what is underneath all that sheetmetal. I believe that they still build one of the best front engine/rear wheel drive cars in the business - excluding the iDrive.

Default Naaah.

Looks more like a Grand Prix. Then new 5-series, that is.

Default His days of bamboozling management are numbered.

I can't believe that marketing focus groups didn't reveal that the new 7-series was going to be a disaster. I suspect Bangle was able to bamboozle management and get his "vision" into production, as high-strung designer types are often able to do. I saw similar things at work with architects while oberserving the commercial real estate design process.

Now, the ultimate customer feedback session has come to pass, in the form of sales, and there's no sweeping this under the rug and continuing to bamboozle management.

Jim, it reminds me of the designer at Ford that got the boot in 1970 for eliminating the suicide doors on the Continental.
