MMI Blank Screen Diagnosis
I've been following up on my dealer's initial diagnosis that the MMI blank screen problem was related to a software compatibility problem between the radio and MMI. I get a blank screen every 3-5 times that I pull up the MMI after a start, so it's frequent enough to be repeatable. I always have the radio on as a default. As a check over the last few days, I've tried to remember to switch from the radio to the CD before shutting down the engine. So far, every time I've done that the MMI screen has come up on the next restart without a problem. If others can try this for a few days and confirm, we may be able to pinpoint the problem.

Do you listen to AM or have the radio set to AM before you turn the car off?
AM stations under Dynamic mode seem to take a long time to be scanned.
My other guess is that radio frequencies and the A8L's continual scanning of those frequencies may cause a delay and/or lock-up in the system.
Maybe you can go to the Radio/Setup and check if any of your settings could any problems.

Checked the radio settings and
I've got station reception set to local (not distant), and station display set to variable (not fixed). The station reception setting wouldn't be relevant, but the fixed/variable setting might be because it is related to the scanning function that you hypothesize might be the source of the software conflict. I'm going to stick with the CD experiment through the weekend (to confirm that the blank screen rises only when the radio is on), and then I'll switch back to the radio as my default and try changing the station display from variable to fixed and see if that works.
