Am I nuts update......I looked at the A8
I picked up my A6 at the dealer--my p.s. pump blew at 23K miles (started ticking/tapping..very strange).
Talked with my sales guy..."Hey, do you still have the tan A8?" Sure, it's around back." He was talking about a new D3. I said no, the 00 on your website. Oh, that one. Sure, let me grab the keys.
Takes me out to look at it. Carfax reveals minor rear end accident. Only has remainder of of Audi Assured. Looks in decent shape (good paint), smells nice inside, like a non-smoker's car. Nice carpets, leather is in decent shape, LOADED for 21,995 asking. Mechanicals??
Asked a bit more, said I would need to talk with the service manager and pull the records and get it on a lift. My sales guy, whom I've gotten to know pretty well over the last couple of years, just comes out and says, as a friend, you just don't want this car. Let's see what else we can do. He said if you were good mechanically, this might be the car for you--but I'm pretty meticulous, and I don't think I'd be happy with something with issues left and right. I had a C4 like that (but I didn't know about AW then either). The previous owner traded it for a new D3.
Still like the D2s--he's going to keep an eye out. I'd like to go through my dealer as you get some preferential treatment IMO when going through them (loaners/pickup-deliver service/preference in scheduling).

I agree with you RossD
but I've had a horror case Audi before, and lost my shorts on it, and I'm not going to do that again. My dealer is out of town--75mi away and has very good service--yes, you pay for it.
I'm happy with their service. With my locale, with 1 dealer in town that is horid which I won't go to, and no indys that know how to work on Audis, choices are limited.
