Cabin full of condensation !
Hi There, hoping you S8 gurus may be able to save me a trip to my local Audi stealer. The cabin fills with condensation and the inevitable misty screen and with the climate control set to clear the screen it has little or no effect. The most effective way I've found is to put the climate cont on to recirculate and that got me to a point where I could see again. Just looking for some advise as to why this may be happening and what I can do to correct it. i had the air con re gassed about 6 months ago and the condensation & steam only seems to be a problem in this recent colder weather although the car can sit on the drive for a couple of days and the rear window mists up with no one in the car.

Clear the HVAC drains! There is water sitting in the ducts and that is what is causing the fogging!

Since you are clearing the hvac drains ...
you might as well clear the other nipples as well, as they cause big headaches too.
The two in the front wheel wells drain the cowl air intake, and if clogged will flood the interior of your car eventually as well.
The sunroof has four drain lines, one in each corner, and should be cleared as well, since you can imagine what happens when the sunroof mechanicals get too full of water.

You could also have a bad damper motor
You say it clears better in recirc....is there still air flowing when not in recirc? Sometimes the damper motors go bad and they get confused and can't open fully. When you put it in recirc, it takes a damper out of the circuit that could be causing the problem.
You can check that with measuring blocks using vag-com.
But I would also check the evaporator drains first.
The gas pedal on the facelift car is slightly different than the procedure, but you'll figure it out.

Roof drains: where are they and how do you clean them? I can find the forward drains and outlets but I can not find the two rear drains. Can I see them with the roof open or do I have to remove the headliner?
