Tinting windows?

Tinting windows?
I have a 2001 S8 with warm and cold packages...other than the typical potential issue of the installer slicing the defrost grid on the rear window, does anyone know if there is a reason why I should not tint my windows? Looking to do all 4 and rear, per the limits of my state.
Are there any concerns of losing or damaging any element of the coating already on the windows, if any?

I have mine tinted - and the only thing I have ever heard about the risks is losing radio reception. If you use metallic tint (I believe that the 'better' tints are metallic), it can hurt your reception... Some say radar detection can be affected as well. I personally never listen to the radio (ipod - yeah!), and my V1 performs fantastic.
If you're unsure, maybe you could call a few local tint installers and ask them about any risks - but keep in mind that they may be more interested in selling tint than telling the truth... Good Luck! It will look sweet with tint!

I'm located in Des Moines and have tinted windows on my A8.
Drop me an email if you would like to check them out before you decide - just to see what they look like. I have no problem at all with the rear defrost. And I really like the effect it has on interior comfort and exterior styling.

I did non metallic for the reasons you state. There are high quality lifetime warranteed non
mettallics. Shop around to a few shops, go with one you are comfortable with and will be in biz to do warranty work.
