how dificult is it to re-code your trans?
I've been reading up on it a bit, but if I buy the software, I assume I'll need to have a lap top computer to do it right? What else is needed after the software is purchased? What else does the software do? Thanks, you dealing with a guy that doesn't have a lot of time to spend researching these things on the internet, and if you know, your knowlege is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

recode the tranny or any other function that is customizable. Be sure that your laptop meets the hardware requirements stated on the ross-tech.com website. Vag.com is even more useful for troubleshooting problems than it is for customizing the controllers. You need the Bentley (I spit in their general direction) manual to decode and troubleshoot the trouble codes that the vag.com can access.

Very easy to recode! If you don't want to purchase a new toy (tool) then take a look at this link and you may find someone near you that will do it for you.
