Default Where to find Audi tools for TB service on 2000 40v engine

Does anyone know Where they can be rented? The Bentley shows a bolt that is inserted into an access plug to hold the crank in position and a long metal bar which locks the two cams to each other. Easy enough to fabricate from plate steel or bar stock?

Default You can buy them from baum tools

There are three tools......cam holding, a crank holding and can't remember the other....but I have posted pictures of them.

They are about $180? for all three of them.

Default I've changed the water pump on my wife's 94' 100 on the parking lot.....

and I had to take the timing belt off. I just marked the pulleys with a sharpie, took the belt off, changed the pump, called my neighbor over to hold the left camshaft with the chanellock, I held the right camshaft with another chanellock and put back the timing belt. The whole thing took my 40 minutes and she runs great.

But on the other hand,it is also nice to have good tool.

Jerry rigging is my favorite hobby, I entertained visions of using plastic jawed clamps on the cam sprokets or doing my favorite TB trick, slice the old belt it in half all the way around with a sharp razor knife, loosen the tensioner(s),then remove the outside half, slide the new belt on from the front and then cut the remainder of the old belt off and slide the new one on the rest of the way. But I do plan on doing this the right way: replace water pump, tensioner(s) and pulleys so this may not be feasible. At least with the five valve motor, you don't have to lock the cams from behind.

I'd love to get a peek at an ETKA view for all of the parts, but I thiink I've got it figured out from the Bentley. Maybe around New Years weekend.
I'll keep you posted.
