Default Ouch... My bumper

My father took the car to Westchester Ny today and I got a call from him at about 8:30AM. "I pulled the whole bumper off"

Uggg.. both headlight washers and the pins that hold the bumper on are broken.

I guess i cant be upset i wrecked my share of his cars when i was younger

My question is is this hard to fix or am i looking at a new bumper. If i am looking at a new bumper can i put the facelift bumper on the car? I want more foglights...

Default Don't know if the facelift bumper will work

There was that guy who put a whole facelift front end on his car....but he owned a body shop!

Is your Dad giving you paybacks??? :-)

Sorry to hear about your car, but from my understanding, it isn't that hard to piece back together....just embarssing driving home with the bumper in the back seat!

Default I had the same thing happen to me. It is pretty easy to put it back..

together as long as the side plastic brackets are not completely messed up.

Default Yep- did it myself :-( There are "L" shaped brackets on the inside rear.....

of the bumper cover that can be damaged by this kind of event. I had to fix one of mine using a piece of aluminum angle, pop rivets, and epoxy. I also had to replace one of the headlamp washers that had shattered. You can get replacement body pins (the palstic pins that broke) at any body shop. All in all it took me around 3-4 hours to fix and reinstall the bumper cover.

Default I know it is a big pain in the butt. Since then I have been using tie wraps to secure..

and attach the plastic skirt to the bumper. My wife went over a curb and the tie wraps held things together and prevented the bumper to come apart again for the third time. It really helps

Default I've done it atleast three times on mine!

I ripped my bumper off the first month I got the car and every six months or so it happens again. You just line up the bumper and slide it back into place. You will need to buy new brackets and hopefully you did not break the headlight washers as I have done.

For this reason, I do not let anyone drive my car without giving them a five minute lecture to pretend they are driving a 911 or Corvette and the front can get wripped off very easily.

Good luck and I hope you dont look at it as an accident. You can put it back on and hopefully it will just take a few clips. Send me an email if you need to get a new front end. You can get them on eBay for $350 so beware of someone trying to replace it for over $1k.

Default Make sure, that you test the head light washer before you drive it. If it is not installed properly,

it can fall out because of the water pressure.
