Control Arm Recall on 97s- Thanks for the Info

I did not receive the post card but my 97 does qualify for the recall. I called AofA and they confirmed my car is part of the open campaign for the lower control arms to be replaced if need be. I am confident after driving my car, they will agree to make this repair.

Thanks to the group as I would not be aware of this campaign.

Yes, you are right. Remember, I bought my Mercedes SL and the A8 became my "second car." I did get around to doing the brakes, trans service, and tie rods for under $500. I am selling the car after this winter and could not justify spending the $1k.

I love the tricked out photo of your car. Tell me your hood scoop and spoiler is not real.

I have an appointment on the 20th to get mine replaced.

Seemed pretty easy. I called the dealer and asked about the recall, they knew exactly what I was talking about and made me an appointment. I keep on assuming something is going to go wrong like they will expect me to pay for an alignment. Shouldn't that be included considering the work they need to do on the car will knock it out of whack?

For once my procrastination has benefited me. I've been putting off replacing the control arms for months. I feel for you guys that have already replaced yours. It would be really noble of AoA to have some sort of reimbursement but I don't see that happening.

What about Reimbursement for Transmission?

I am putting off the transmission purchase as well hoping they will recall 97s for our "lifetime transmissions." Still, I would have bought a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic if I wanted a real lifetime transmission....LOL!
