steering rack or inner tie rod?

steering rack or inner tie rod?
I did all control arms and links last month but held off on the tie rod ends because I ran out of time (and they seemed fine). I just checked for play in the front wheels and I'm getting a clunk from the back end of the inner tie rod. It seems to be behind the innermost boot. Is this a steering rack problem or inner tie rod?

Easy to replace tie rod?....
Do I just remove the boot clamps - pop the outer end - slide boot outwards - and unscrew the tie rod from the rack with likely a crows foot. I don't see much detail in my Bentley's.
