breather hose problems??
took it into the local shop today and when they removed the engine cover they noted and showed me that one of the hoses next to the engine block (towards the windshield/back of engine) had a BIG HOLE in it... the guy said it was a "breather hose".. he called a local audi place for parts on the hose.. and it was not in stock and will have to be ordered from the warehouse in new jersey (which is currently doing inventory and won't be available until sometime next week)
also noted to be torn is the long one in the front of the engine.
i think its the Emission breather hose and the Crank Case breather hose (this one is spray oil... is it dangerous??)
can i get a subsitute for them from a local autoparts store....
are these hoses just as good??
The Audi hose is definitely crap. I doubt that a FLAPS hose is any worse. One of the two rear ones is incredibly hard to reach -- I think you have to take the intake manifold off.
should have checked months ago.. but i'm soo freckin' lazy it kills me.... i went to advance auto and purchased standard heater hose for $15bucks for the pair and about 1hour of screwing around and finally... done
the question now... how much damage did i cause to the engine with the vacuum being screwed up and sucking all that air into the engine???
