Default Ok, I am at 62,000 miles with many "issues", I need some advice!

I have my A8 at a independent shop in Moorhead, MN.

Things wrong with the car:

Horn doesnt work. Horn sounded wimpy since I bought the car. Mechanic told me that there are two horns that give it a "throaty" sound so one of the horns wasnt working when I bought the car. The other horn quit working after I leaned on it for 4 seconds straight while some old geezer continued to back up towards my car, while I narrowly escaped collission by fractions of an inch.

The car has 62K right now.
What should I replace at this point? Does the timing belt and all other parts related to that need to be replaced? $700 bucks?

Any other items?

I have allready totally rebuilt the front suspension and changed the trans fluid and filter 20k ago.

Thanks guys, (I did do a search on this but came up with nothing.)

You should do a timing belt job, it is 8 years old.

Default Agreed...

You should do the timing belt, why wait... In fact if you do it yourself and follow Paul's advice by removing the front end to do the job, the horns will be VERY easy to access and troubleshoot while you are at it. I just did my belt, rollers, dampers, water pump etc... and now the car runs smoother than ever. This is a spendy job if you have a mechanic do it, but still worth the price considering the consequences of a broken belt.

Default If you have the money, do the TB belt

Otherwise, you could wait until next spring/summer. Make sure you do the oil cooler plastic pipes.

The horn is probably just a bad ground, should be very easy to fix.
