Earth for trip computer

Does anyone know where the earth connection for the trip computer may be?
My computer is all over the place and may well be a loose earth wire but I dont have a diagram.
[Waiting on manual cd and Vag-com Cable]

Would it not be the same as for the instruments?

Anyway, what year is your car? And what specifically is the computer doing?

Just random readings and I want to check the earth.
Where are the intrument cluster earths?

If the other instruments are okay, I'd not suspect the earth, but ...

let me know the year of your car and I'll look up the location. If saying earth instead of ground means the car is RHD, the information may not be valid, as the Robert Bentley manual covers US market cars.

Is only the consumption (MPG) reading erratic?
