white smoke....... on warm day
well it's about mid60s here in maryland and my car has exhaust/steam type smoke coming from the exhaust..almost like if it were a cold winter day, but i look around in traffic and i'm the ONLY car with steam coming out... is this normal or is this a warning??

My car does that too at idle, I think it's normal.
I think it has something to do with the slow airflow in the exhaust system at idle on these cars. Most cars have a higher flow rate out of the exhaust, probably because they idle at higher RPM's and have smaller diameter exhaust systems. If you feel the exhaust coming out at idle, like while you're standing at the trunk and wonder what is burning your leg. It's very low pressure, and extremely hot and steamy. It's not really blowing out, more like oozing lava vapor. I think the engines just breathe better at idle with the 5valve/cylinder arangement, the exhaust is basically concentrated, more heat and more moisture per volume than most other cars. So, when you stop at a light, the exhaust system, previously cooled by airflow under the car, heats back up very quickly and vaporizes any moisture that has condensed in it.
