Manual says no mobile phone inside the car?????

The owner's manual of my new '97 Dutch specification A8 4.2 warns that the use of a mobile phone inside the car might damage electronic components.

Could anyone comment and/or explain?

Maybe that 's why my heated steering wheel doesn't work.

A GSM phone in the cupholder will lock out my nav controls until restart

That's the only interference I've noticed.
