Default So I'm getting that scary accelerator sticking problem now....

that its been so cold here in upstate NY. Actually, my wife drives the car everyday, and yesterday was the second time this winter she's had the problem. The car(97 A8) feels like it's on cruise control, and when she got it to stop and put it in park, the revs went up to 5,000 and she shut the car off. Did a search, and found out that some people have had this, and it was found to be a sticking throttle linkage. Some lube seemed to have fixed it. My question is what lube would be the best for this situation, WD-40, or something else? Thanks.

WD40 should suffice.

Default I used the 3M throttle spray product

after a similar experience at one winter and it seems to solve the problem. I got to know this product from the dealer's place (Fred Baker Audi in Ohio) one time after I picked up my A8 for a service.

Default Mine is just the opposite....

When it's cold and I'm sitting at a red light when I try to accelerate the gas pedal is stuck in the no go position. It requires some pressure to depress it and it gets unstuck and wham I accelerate into a wheelie. I've tried lubing the linkage and the cable to no avail.... Yeah.... UNINTENDED ACCELERATION
