Default Uh Oh ! Has anyone seen this before ?

I was leaving a stop light and my '02 S8 would not shift out of 2nd. I placed the shifter into S and all of the lights lit up as seen in the picture. The car seemed to drive normally on the way home and the lights returned to normal after I shut the car off. Any ideas ?

Default Looks like tranny limp-mode has been engaged.

Time for a VAG-COM to see what codes are present.

Default Hit the A6 line in my sig, and find the link for the VAG-locator.

Also, there's a local Audi forum for NC that's on another domain. Ask about it in SE, here.

Default Yup, a search of AW confirmed it. I took the car back out a few more times and the same thing

What is odd is that some of the electronics are acting weird. Nav system would turn itself on at the menu screen, the lights would flash after being turned on and when I start the car I get the "OK" and the D12345 starts out in 1 than all lights become illuminated when I turn the headlights on. Strange. Looks like I will headed to the dealer later this week. Luck it's certified for another 13 months. Is it safe to drive ?

Do not drive it any more than you have to. How many miles do you have on it?

I don't know if will help, but my 2001 A8L does it as well. However, it only happens when it is very cold out, ie. under 15 degrees F and only when I start the car in the morning. I put it into N and D then back to park. I shut off the car and restart and it is normal. I think mine is probably a bad connection somewhere. I have experienced no driveability issues. Good luck with yours.

Default 61K, the car is exactly 5 years old.

I drive about 12 miles round trip a day. Was planning to drive it to the dealer on Friday.

Default My money is on the F125 switch/plug. It can corrode over time or get soaked with oil.

If you are going to keep the car, I would recommend servicing the tranny.

Changing the transmission fluid and filter is probably the MOST IMPORTANT service that you can perform on your D2

If it is the F125 switch, I have one. Email me if you need it.
