Torque Converter clutch lockup defeat scheme
In reading literature of Toyota Electrical Controled Transmissions, it was mentioned that shorting to ground the Closed Throttle Position switch,(F60) The TCC would not lock up.
If someone wanted to.....
For our ABZ autos,
That would be the sw/ge (black/yellow) wire connecting Terminal 6 on the TP sensor and position B4 on the ECM. reference 97-18170 on the wiring diagrams.
I am not sure if other situations would arise with this defeat. I have not tried it either.
If the "thump", which I don't seem to have, is also related to TCC drop out, this dodge would alleviate that symptom as well.
Not a cure, just a work around for those who have considered drastic measures.
