Tranny limp mode update
Last week I posted that my '02 S8 (61K mileage) went into limp mode and I had a few funny electronic bugs. After a week of driving (appprox 15 miles a day) the car returned to normal. Tonight as I was backing into the garage, the tranny went into limp mode again. I was going to drop it at the dealer for investigation (car is certified for another year) but will hold off as I can't get to the dealer this week. I would guess that the problem is most likely the F125 switch as pointed out in the posting responses. I'm hoping to document with the dealer and AOA in case this problem continues past certified warranty coverage so that I can build a case. I'll keep you posted.
BTW what type of brake fluid does the S8 take ? I need to get the fluid changed out.

I use ATE Gold and Blue fluid, they are the same fluid, but different colors.

ATE Gold/ Blue brake fuid is highly rated.
I use Castrol SRF, but you can use any DOT4 or DOT 5.1 brake fluid. Absolutely DO NOT use DOT 5; this is a silicone brake fluid, and it's not compatible with the ABS system.
The owner's manual recommends bleeding brakes every other year. IMHO, you'll be pleased with the firmer pedal that usually results from annual bleeding.<ul><li><a href="http://www.evilplastic.com/bfluid.htm">Brake Fuild Comparison</a></li></ul>
