Big time myth...
Text from Mobil One website under myths:
"Myth: Mobil 1 will leak out of the seals of older cars.
Reality:
Mobil 1 does not cause leaks. In fact, new Mobil 1 was tested in dozens of industry standard and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) tests to prove its seal performance. It is fully compatible with the elastomeric materials from which all automotive seals and gaskets are made. If an older engine is in good condition and does not have oil leaks, Mobil 1 provides the same advantages as when used in a new engine. ExxonMobil recommends taking measures to repair the leaks, then using Mobil 1. ExxonMobil also recommends following the automobile manufacturer's manual for the proper oil to use."

The reason that leaks sometimes appear in older cars that have used Pennzoil (for instance).....
is that the non-synthetic oils can accumlate a significant amount of (usually) grey gunk on the interior surfaces of the engine where oil flow is not strong. If this is at a seal or gasket, the gunk can act as a sealant to any leaks that may have developed in the seal. Then when you convert to synthetic, the superior cleaning properties of the synth removes this grey gunk, exposing the leak. The synthetic doesn't CAUSE the leak, merely exposes the leak.

Re: If you haven't run synthetic before, don't be surprised if you find oil leaks everywhere.
Just had my am warranty expire so i had everyseal done in the car it doesnt leak a bit we even did the oil change with mobil 1 5w-30 to ensure... i jus wanted to know if mobil 1r was built for high temps that summer brings(<90) and 30+ mile hike on tha highway to work

Synthetic oil has superior lubrication properties at all temperatures. Test data will bear you out. University of Illinois Aviation Institute did testing in the 80's comparing dino versus synthetic oil and the data were clear-- significantly improved dimensional results at teardown on hot-cold cycled engines in the test cell. My Prof. Bill Johnson made his case clear and caused me to become a lifelong advocate of Mobil 1 and other synthetics.
