What is R&R for a cooling pipe replacement? Time to talk to dealer??
Anyway, the total damage was $700, including parts and labor. (There was no charge for the coolant flush and replace when I noticed they'd put green bleepin' coolant into a reservoir marked G12!).
I was looking through the Audi parts manual (page 157, item #16) and found the part: 077 121 071 AH (pipe unit, rear eng). However, I can't figure out what the labor time should be.
Anyone have an idea of what labor SHOULD have been?
Yes, I'm beginning to distrust even my local, friendly indy mechanics. I had a vibration at the front, left wheel and they swore it was discs. That made the issue go away... for a couple of weeks. Now the vibration is back with a vengeance and they're saying it is control arm bushings. Also, they're swearing that my oil lead means totally rebuilding the heads. I am SO tempted to take the car to the local Audi dealer (with whom I've had fantastic experience) and have them do the bumper-to-bumper inspection for $200. If there is a chance I can avoid a $2,000 head rebuild... (e.g. it is really a cam seal leak, etc.).
