I have not been over to tyresmoke.net for some time but the pre facelift cars with the immobilizer in them have had a lot of problems with getting the keys to work.
Here is an EXCELLENT procedure that Berrie Bloem sent to me (in HTML format, thank you!).....that I just got around to posting.
