2001 A8L, need new aux cooling fan
Hey guys its been a while. But one of my adventures while I've been off was picking up an 2001 A8L for my father-in-law in New Orleans and then driving it from Bama out to Colorado. I kept hearing a little squealing at low speeds but couldn't pin point it. He finally diagnosed it as the aux cooling fan. I recently lost the harddrive in my laptop and don't have a copy of EKTA running. He has looked online for a new fan and found several. One of the questions is weather it has a flat or round connector for the fan. And it seems to make a big diff in price, $100 or more diff. the round connector is the pricey one.
I just told him worst case we can cut the connector off the old one and wire it in.
Any been there done that's with a face lift model?
And what about the snap in zip ties that hold the wiring where it runs down to the connector?
I'm going to be in Colorado this week and was going to help him with it.
Also I got a copy of the Bentley installed but can't find any instructions on the aux cooling fan only the viscous one.

Hi, just posted here in this topic and done the job myself, to be honest its easy done in an hour from start to finish.
With reference to the tie's / fixings, if your careful and cut the ties close to their mountings, you can re-use them by just threading a new small tie-wrap through them.
Also the plastic rivet that secures it and stops the fan body rotating can be removed by pushing out the center pin and if your lucky you can reclaim it and re use it, it falls between the rad and fan and you can get it when the cooling fan is out. As i said its luck if you can find it and its a bit fiddly to push out the centre pin. Access is much easier from underneath with the "undertray" removed
