An 8" wheel is too narrow.
255/35-20 (my summer tire) is the correct diameter for a 20" wheel, but the 255/35-20 requires an 8.5" minimum wheel width to avoid damaging the tire. Also, the offset of the wheel should be 35-40.
This is 255/35-20 on a 20x9 ET39 wheel.

a question
i want to put 20" wheels aswell two questions can i put 20x9 or 20x9.5 and i was told that if i put 20 wheels on the car the wheel bearings will break is their any truth to that i mean would it mess my car up if i did put 20 inch wheels on. oh and anyone know where i can get a set of deep dishes in back and not as deep in the front package kind of like they have on porches and BMW. thanks

Either 20x9 or 20x9.5 is OK
An ET39 wheel offset is probably ideal to avoid clearance problems. Especially in the front, 35-40 would be fine with the 9" wheel, but try to hit 38-39 with the 9.5" wheel.
I have no experience with deep dish wheels (ET > 40 on the 9") in the rear, but you'd need to use the <a href="http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp">Wheel Offset Calculator</a> and carefully measure how much space you have before you hit a suspension element.
And a 20" wheel will not break the wheel bearings or damage an A8/S8 any more than a 16" wheel.
