Any last minute TIPs - changing timing belt soon on 5v motor?
Well the Blau kit arrived only 2 days after I placed the order - wow!! The kit appears to have everything I'll need. But I'm still skeptical of the high cost of the kit - near $600. I'm guessing the parts are OEM, they certainly look it. I also got the serpentine belt kit, and rented the special tools from Blau. The tools have a refundable deposit of $350...so the total cost so far is just over $1,000 until I return the tools - then $650 for a comprehensive job.
I have printed out the timing belt procedure from the Audipages for the 4v motor, very well done! And I've printed out other threads devoted to timing belt changes, for any additional clues or pitfalls. I'm lucky in that I own a Ferrari Testarossa (my 2nd one) and have performed 3 major services that require the engine out of the car. So I have a fair understanding of what's involved. Unfortunately I DO NOT have a Bentley manual. I'm hoping that past experience and the 4v motor write up will be enough. However...there are many great people on this forum who generously share their valuable knowledge...so I thought I would ask for opinions. I want you all to know in advance that I truly appreciate this forum, and the many good folks here. I would not have bought an A8 if not for the support of this website. Thank You...

yes, do a search under my name for "40v timing belt", I wrote up some notes after I did mine.
don't spend too much time studying the 32v procedure, it's much different. I would say that you need the Bentley for sure.

Thank You A8CT...I will do a search. I did print out your observations about when you did your service. I will do more searching too...
