shifter upgrade
Help!! I am upgrading my shifter in my 97 a8 and for love or money I cant get the center consel to remove from the car. How do I remove the parking brake lever and what chicken do I have to sacrafice to what dark god to remove this? thanks

thanks for the diagrams-they match my mitchell on demand perfectly...but sadly my handbrake is rivited in, and without it up or removed I'm sol. I refuse to break anything so any other ideas would be helpful. thanks

You don't have to remove any of that stuff.
Remove the floor maths and the two side cover for the transmission tunnel. There is a 4mm Allen head screw of ether side of the wood shifter cover. Remove them and the cover comes up. Now you have access to the shifter.
