There's no accounting for taste I suppose. My opinion is that if the Audi engineers thought that such an addition would improve the cars looks or aerodynamics they would have provided it as standard. As far as mine is concerned I'm not even putting any stickers on it.

Audi is a huge Corpoation.......
Mother Audi is not in this for your best interest they are in this to make money.<p>Maybe they didn't want to spend the extra money on R & D etc. for a rear spoiler.....<p>I think we on this group tend to loose sight of the fact that all good design is a "compromise". The TT as we know it has been compromised from the original design sketches. Take a look at some of the original drawings. It IS close but it is not exactly as the designer penned it. He had to compromise. <p>Sorry for the rant here and this was in no way intended as a flame directed at Stuart. I appreciate the comments :-)<p>Maybe this should have been a new thread........<p><br>

IMO it's cute, but looks like any other Supra or Mustang, etc. aftermarket add-on...unneccesary. The TT (as stated by Audi) would benifit aerodynamically from such a wing, but it didn't keep with the original (and flawless) design.

NICE! 911 TT Whaletail............
Ya know, this reminded me of when I got that AutoWeek several months ago that had the first *multiple angle* shots of the TT in action. I remember exclaiming, "Now *THAT'S* what the new 911 should've looked like!" Isn't it weird how you can slap that whale tail on it and it looks very Porsche-like?...<p>So, I'm with you guys, (at least in this picture) the whale tail looks *really* nice! I'd have to see it in person tho before fully condoning it ;-)<p>And judging from reports of problems with a lack of rear downforce, it might do some good for high-speed handling...<p>There's your function!<p>

Sean, <p>I agree I have a 225Q on order for next year and in red in fact. The setup looks *sweet* from the one angle and as you state it might give the downforce required to keep the haldex quattro form thrwoing the rear end out at high speed.<p>I'd like to see what Audi OEM engineers comes up with considering they have managed to put a pop up wing on the 1.8Turbo Beetle.<p>If they can do it there on a $20K bug they should be able to build it for their flagship sports coupe?<p>Any other opinions here?<p>Regards<p>Dave

I think Audi will add a spoiler to the STT
I hear thet the STT prototypes have an electronicly deployed spioler perhaps similar to those we've seen on 911's. I like the look of the spoiler in question put whould prefer one a little less Porsche like. JIM

Oh, noooooo! My worst nightmare has been realized!<p>A covert J. C. Whitney operative has finally infiltrated the (formerly) secure Audi Design compound and successfully planted their latest catalog. Oh, dread! <p>Apparently, a vulnerable design intern (with an obvious chemical dependency problem!) suffered an untimely relapse. This photo was somehow overlooked just when the men in the white coats from Shady Acres came to take away the pitiful soul. Rest, my son. <p>If this photo ever gets into the wrong hands...I shudder to think of the consequences! We MUST remain EVER vigilant!<p>Seriously, though...I think the TT's original (perfect) lines do not need any such alterations.<br>Less IS more! Just my opinion. <p><p>
