6-Speed Manual for 180Q
While browsing through vwvortex.com, I came upon a very enlightening piece about VW's new 4Motion AWD system for the Golf & Bora (Jetta). Since this set-up, like the TT's Quattro package, uses the Haldex rear clutch, I thought it was interesting to see that VW is going to offer a <br>6-speed tranny. <p>I hope Audi will do the same on ALL AWD TT's, incl. 180's.<p>This website has some of the best Haldex info I've seen in print to date. Very confidence inspiring since my 180Q is being built in August. <p>No turning back! <br>

I've heard that it will not be offered in the US (at least for ours, the first ones). <p>And I have a lil surprise for you...<p>*NO* Audis will be made in August. The whole factory (I think the whole country, actually) has the month off. My first TTQ order was caught in this snag. They said it wouldn't be delivered until late October! Luckily I found another one that's being built in July...<p>Thanks for the Haldex info tho...

Golf IV platform (TT) O2J transmission...
All cars currently built on the Golf IV platform (Golf, Jetta/Bora, New Beetle, TT, A3, S3, Seat Toledo, etc.) all use the same VW group O2J tranmission. <p>This is a newer version of the old O2A transmission except that the gear housing was designed to accomidate a sixth gear from the start (and a myriad of other new changes were made to "update" it as well). While there are no plans to offer the 180hp TT with a six-speed in this country, it IS possible that aftermarket companies could build a six-speed kit for this transmission (although probably not inexpensively).<p>Just an FYI...<p>- jamie

Ouch!<p>Looks like another call to my dealer will be in order here!<p>Boy, wouldn't it be great if all dealers were "singing from the same hymnal?"<p>I guess inconsistent info is just part of the fun.<p>Thanks, though.
