Default Need info on 1995 Press Kit

Yesterday I bought a TT press kit at a local flee market. It is 8 1/2 X 12 inches, stamped Audi TT press ket, December 1995. Inside, besides color photos of the coupe and the roadster are two booklets. One is on the coupe and the other is on the TTS roadster. The BHP for the coupe is listed at 150 and for the TTS roadster, 210.
The kit is in english. Does anyone know where it was given out and to who?

It sounds consistent with all the auto magazines reports at the time. Audi had working prototypes that worked the show circuit. I'm sure the press kits were given to journalists at the shows. You found one at a flea market? I'm envious...
By the way, the big magazines (C&D, R&T, Automobile, etc) showcased the TT show cars around april/may 1996 issues. Automobile had the funny catch line "Audi shows us its TT's) in big red letter on the cover.
-steve

I think one just sold on E-bay the other day for $55. It was a road and track press kit and it looked great. I wish I had seen the post earlier I would have bid for it. That kind of info is great to have.
Hi Gene; the kit you found, does it have a drawing of the roadster and coupe on the cover? If so, I think it is the kit from the prototype cars. Look at the coupe to see if the quarter windows are missing. The original show car had a large "C" pillar with no window behind the door. I found the same kit at a car swap meet last year. There are a few different kits that I have found on the TT. There is another prototype car kit (european) where the cover is rainbow striped. There is the production car media kit with the bumpy metal look cover that the other respondent to your letter spoke of, and a Road & Track special issue on the TT for the media. I am sure there is even more stuff out there, my brother has a new beetle and he has been finding "NEW" press stuff fo over a year. Audi probably did the same.
